NOSE LONDON LTD | Company Number: 16001813
Last updated: 23 March 2026
Your Right to a Chaperone
At NOSE LONDON LTD, we are committed to ensuring your comfort, dignity, and safety during every consultation and examination.
You have the right to request a chaperone — a trained, impartial observer — to be present during any part of your consultation or physical examination. This applies to all patients, regardless of age or gender.
When a Chaperone May Be Offered
A chaperone may be offered or recommended during:
- Nasal examination (anterior rhinoscopy, nasal endoscopy)
- Facial examination
- Photography sessions for clinical records
- Any consultation where a physical examination is conducted
How to Request a Chaperone
- You may request a chaperone at any time — before or during your appointment
- Simply inform Mr Whitehead or our reception team
- If a chaperone is not immediately available, we will offer to reschedule your examination to a time when one can be present
- Your care will not be affected by requesting (or declining) a chaperone
Our Commitment
- Chaperones are trained to act as impartial observers during clinical examinations
- The presence or absence of a chaperone will be documented in your clinical record
- Mr Whitehead may also request a chaperone to be present during certain examinations, in line with GMC Good Medical Practice guidance
- We will never proceed with an examination if you are uncomfortable, with or without a chaperone
Children and Young People
For patients under 18, a parent or guardian will normally be present during consultations and examinations. If the young person prefers to be seen without a parent for part of the consultation, a chaperone will be offered.
